Dear Mayfield Preschool Families,
🐾 What an AMAZING First Week to Be a Mayfield Preschool Cub! 💚
What a wonderful first week it has been! We were so excited to welcome our Cubs through the doors and watch them begin settling into their classrooms, meeting new friends, and getting to know their teachers.
From big smiles and lots of hugs to singing, dancing, creating, and playing, our classrooms have been full of excitement! Our Cubs are already learning routines, practicing kindness, and discovering what it means to be part of the Mayfield Preschool family.
We are especially proud of how our students have jumped into the school year. There may have been a few nerves along the way, but our Cubs showed us just how brave, curious, and ready to learn they are!
We also want to remind families about a great way to get involved!

Arrival & Dismissal Procedures |
Thank you for working with our staff to make this process safe and smooth each day! Cars will come into the main driveway off of Lander Road, and take a right at the stop signs circling to the loading zone. Cars should pull forward along the sides of the building in two rows of 5-6 cars. Drop off is in front of the Preschool Door 9A. Please be ON TIME for drop off and pick up. Staff is not available for before/after care.
DROP OFF:
Session 1: Door Opens 7:50am and Class starts at 8:00am
Session 2: Door Opens at 11:20am and Class starts at 11:30am
In order to keep the flow of traffic moving safely and quickly, we ask that parents do NOT get out of the car during arrival. Our caring and dedicated preschool staff will get the students from the cars and all children are escorted by an adult to keep our young scholars safe. Please create two lanes of cars in the center between the green walking zones. Staff will be present to direct you and your child each day. Students will be loaded and unloaded in between the lanes where more space is available.
If your child is having difficulty exiting the car properly, you will be asked to park your car in the parking lot and bring your child into the school at door 9A.
Tardy Arrivals: Park your car and enter with your student through Door 9A – sign your child in and exit the building.
PICK UP:
Session 1: Dismissal begins at 10:20am
Session 2: Dismissal begins at 1:50pm
Please have your car sign visible when picking up your child until your child is in the vehicle. Students are picked up in the semi-circle area in front of the Preschool located at Door 9A. Staff members will bring the child to the car. Parents will then be able to buckle their child into their car seat. The staff are unable to conference with parents in the car line - our goal and priority is to safely transition your child to you in a timely manner.
Changes to drop off and/or pick up should be emailed in advance to your Classroom TEACHER and Kim Zanella - Administrative Assistant at the Mayfield Preschool kzanella@mayfieldschools.org. If it is a same day change, please call the office 440-995-7300.
ATTENDANCE:
Teachers will be taking attendance at the start of the school day. If your child will be late or absent please enter an Infinite Campus absence request; call Kim Zanella in the office at 440-995-7300 and/or email your child(ren's) teacher(s).

Social Emotional Curriculum |
You may hear your child talking about “SPOTS” at home! Our SPOTS are fun characters we use in the classroom to help children recognize, understand, and manage their emotions.
Each SPOT represents a different feeling, such as happiness, anger, worry, sadness, love, confidence, and calm. Through these characters, children learn that all feelings are okay and that understanding our emotions can help us make positive choices, build relationships, and be successful learners.
We encourage you to ask your child about their favorite SPOT and talk together about the different feelings they experience at home. When children can identify and understand their emotions, they are better equipped to manage them! 💚

Mayfield Preschool Volunteer Opportunities |
At Mayfield Preschool, we believe it takes a village to create the best learning experience for our Cubs. Parent volunteers play such an important role in building a strong, supportive school community.
Through our Volunteer Program, families can share their time and talents in ways that bring joy, connection, and extra support to our students and staff. Whether it’s lending a hand at special events, helping in the office, or cheering on our Cubs at school activities, your involvement makes a difference!
This year, there are many opportunities to get involved — from the Homecoming Parade to our Fall Harvest Celebration, holiday parties, the Family Literacy Event, Book Fair, and Staff Appreciation Week. No matter how much or how little time you can give, we value and appreciate your partnership.

You have access to a revolutionary smartphone app that helps to improve communication, school bus safety, and efficiency. The Edulog Parent Portal app provides you with planned time and location information for your child's bus ride to and from school. On a daily basis, the app will show you the GPS location of the bus and send you a push notification when it is nearing your bus stop.
This app is free of charge for our parents, caregivers, and students. In addition to displaying the location of your bus and sending the notifications, you can also receive time-sensitive messages from our transportation department. You will also receive notification when a substitute bus is running your route due to maintenance, absences, etc.
The Edulog Parent Portal app integrates with our school bus routing system, which is also provided by Education Logistics, Inc. (Edulog), a premier provider of school bus technology. School bus locations are sent from a GPS device installed on each bus which not only provides up-to-date information for you, but also for our school bus maintenance staff who need to know the real-time location of each bus for maintenance and other service requirements.
Security is important. Only you have access to your student’s transportation information through the app via a secure login process. You must know your student’s school of attendance, ID number and date of birth in addition to the exact spelling of his or her first name and last name.
Please know that our goal is to provide safe and efficient transportation for all Mayfield City Scholl children riding our buses and vans. By improving communication and expanding the information available to you by implementing this app, we are working hard to meet and exceed that goal.

Free and Reduced Price Meal Benefits are available to families who qualify. On-line applications are encouraged and are easy and convenient through the Parent Portal. For upcoming school year, apply after Aug 1.
